C is for Cruising around Boulia - AtoZChallenge 2016

Well we have survived the weekend of lots of family history. Now for some time to cruise around the town and see the sights.
First stop the Stone House.
This was built in 1883 and is now listed by the National Trust.

Dick Suter was the person instrumental in finding and gathering the marine fossils from the area and sending most to the Queensland Museum. However he has managed to keep a representative collection for display here. More about that another day.

Howard's cottage has been relocated here and  displays representing a school room & a hospital room have been set up. I'm glad I wasn't around in those days to have to use some of the medical aids on display-metal leg splints for instance.
Outside there is a display of old machinery and other sheds containing old communications equipment such as manual telephone exchanges and old station items including butter churns, milk separators, chains, wrenches etc.

Certainly an interesting place to visit.
